To be performed correctly and safely, tree stump removals and stump grinding in Brisbane is not an amateur job, instead it needs an expert’s skill and knowledge, to say nothing about the right type of equipment. The problem is knowing whether stump grinding or stump removal is the best option for your situation.

After all, it’s one thing to cut down a tree, but when you cut down a sizable tree – what do you do about the stump? You could decide to simply ignore it (as many people do), but then you are left with an ugly stump, which might not matter on acreage, but on a normal suburban block, can become a problem.

Tree stump removals vs stump grinding?

In Brisbane, we receive lots of calls from customers who can’t decide whether grinding or removal is the best way forward, so let’s take a look at both of these practices, so you can make a more informed decision about your stump.

Tree stump removals: This is the more costly option, simply because it takes a lot more time and hard work to remove the entire root ball of a tree. The bigger the tree, the bigger the root ball, and when it’s done, you will be left with a sizable hole that needs to be filled. If you want to plant another tree in the same spot however, then you already have the hole dug! Also, if you want to build on the ground and the tree was removed because it was in the way, then you want the whole stump removed.

Stump grinding: On the other hand, grinding a stump takes a lot less time and is cheaper than removing all of the roots. Once the stump has been ground down to the level of the surrounding soil however, over time, the roots will decay and rot away. This option doesn’t leave a hole in the ground and is fine if you just want to lay a garden bed, but even if you want to grass the area and not build on it, the stump is still going to be an obstruction, which might be annoying once you have lived with it for a while.
